Digital Catapult, the UK authority on advanced digital technology, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Highlights from its first decade are too numerous to mention but include MunchMunch, ARCADE's collaboration with the Oslo-based museum celebrating the life and works of Edvard Munch, the Niantic Accelerator that gave birth to our Bazaar project, and the Augmentor programme for immersive startups that ran from 2017 to 2021 and gave ARCADE our first big start. So who better to design and launch Digital Catapult's immersive gallery, a virtual space accessible via the magic of AR and filled with all of DC's greatest hits.
The invite-only attendees were able to unlock 'DC10', as the gallery is known, via dedicated devices at the 10th anniversary event. The impressive large-scale LED screen at the centre of Digital Catapult's beautiful ninth-floor home near London's King Cross hides a secret - when scanned with one of the devices it will reveal the digital gallery within!
Visitors can explore five different 'worlds', each one representing one of Digital Catapult's key areas of focus: supply chain, digital infrastructure, virtual environment, geographic distribution and sustainable future. Within each world a series of projects come to life in AR, selected to represent the best of Digital Catapult's activity over the past ten years.
Best of all, DC10 is not just installed for the event. Now open, it is accessible to all staff and visitors at DC's London office - so next time you're passing, make sure to take a trip through the immersive gallery!
